I. PVC Decorative Film Construction Process
1. Board Preparation
The board surface must be flat, dry, free of dust, oil, burrs, hollow areas, and cracks.
It is recommended to clean, degrease, and sand the board to ensure uniform surface roughness and improve adhesion.
2. Environmental Requirements
The recommended construction temperature is 18–30℃. Avoid low temperatures, humidity, and strong winds to prevent film shrinkage, bubbling, and delamination.
3. Material Preparation
Wood grain PVC film, matching overlay adhesive/flat-lay adhesive, squeegee, scraper, heat gun, cutting tools, and pressure roller.
II. Mainstream Construction Process
Flat-lay Process (Suitable for flat panels, wall panels, and door panels)
1. Apply adhesive evenly to the substrate and allow it to dry to semi-dry according to the adhesive instructions.
2. Position one end of the PVC film and use a scraper or pressure roller to slowly press it down from the center outwards.
3. Remove air bubbles to ensure complete adhesion between the film and the substrate, without wrinkles.
4. Allow to cure at room temperature to complete the application.
Hot-Wrapping Process (Suitable for irregularly shaped doors, moldings, cabinets, and profiles)
1. After applying adhesive to the substrate, place it in the wrapping machine to preheat the film.
2. Use a hot air gun/wrapping machine to heat the film, softening it and increasing its elasticity.
3. Use pressure rollers to tightly wrap the film onto the profile or embossed surface.
4. Cool and set, trim and finish edges, ensuring a smooth fit at corners and grooves without rebound.
III. Key Points for Application: Apply adhesive thinly and evenly to avoid leakage or accumulation that could cause bubbling and wrinkling.
When applying the film, first position it, then press it firmly, and finally remove any air bubbles.
Appropriately heat corners and rounded areas to make the film adhere better.
Avoid collisions and pulling within 24 hours after application to allow the adhesive to fully cure.
IV. Prevention of Common Problems: Bubbling: Dirty boards, uneven adhesive application, insufficient pressing.
Edge curling: Incompatible adhesive, edges not properly pressed, ambient temperature too low.
Wrinkles: Film not straightened, overheating, or excessive speed.
