Technological innovation has become the core of the industry's breakthrough, and the dual improvement of environmental protection and quality has achieved remarkable results. Recently, a Chinese company obtained an invention patent for "a kind of imitation solid wood flooring color film". The patented product is made by hot pressing composite of surface layer, color film layer and bottom layer. No additional glue is required, which effectively avoids VOC gas pollution caused by glue in traditional process. At the same time, by optimizing the formula, adding environmentally friendly ingredients such as vegetable oil, and matching with self-made plasticizer, the industry pain points of easy brittleness and plasticizer migration of traditional PVC film are solved, and the mechanical properties and environmental protection level of floor decorative film are greatly improved[1]. Currently, the adoption rate of environmental protection technologies such as low VOC, lead-free and cadmium-free, and water-based printing in the industry continues to increase. Imitation wood and stone texture products have become the mainstream in the market, satisfying consumers' aesthetic needs and conforming to green building development standards.

Market demand continues to be released, and overseas exports have become a new engine for industry growth. Driven by the demand for home renovation and commercial space decoration, the domestic market demand for PVC decorative film for flooring has steadily increased. At the same time, domestic enterprises have actively explored overseas markets by relying on the advantages of a complete industrial chain. Data shows that in 2025, my country's exports of PVC boards, sheets, and films reached 738,900 tons, an increase of 20.32% year-on-year. Among them, PVC decorative film for flooring accounted for a significant proportion, mainly exported to countries and regions such as Vietnam, Russia, and India, with the Southeast Asian market accounting for about 30% [2]. Although the overall export of PVC flooring products is declining, PVC decorative film for flooring, as a sub-category, continues to be in demand in emerging markets due to its high cost-performance advantage. It is expected that exports will continue to grow in 2026 .

The industry is facing multiple opportunities and challenges at the same time. At the policy level, the "dual-carbon" strategy and green building standards are driving the industry towards a low-carbon, circular transformation, providing more policy support for environmentally friendly PVC decorative flooring films. However, the cancellation of export tax rebates for PVC-related products and international green trade barriers such as the EU's CBAM (Common Green Trade Agreement) place higher demands on export companies' cost control and compliance capabilities. Furthermore, fluctuations in global PVC raw material prices are also putting pressure on the production and operation of companies in the industry.

Industry insiders say that the PVC decorative flooring film industry is at a critical stage of transformation and upgrading, and technological innovation and overseas expansion are key to companies' breakthrough development. In the future, companies need to continue focusing on upgrading environmentally friendly formulas and production processes, accurately adapting to domestic and international market demands, and focusing on overcoming bottlenecks in regional market adaptability and compliance. At the same time, they should leverage channels such as cross-border e-commerce and overseas exhibitions to further expand into the global market, promoting the transformation of PVC decorative flooring film products towards high-end, differentiated, and environmentally friendly products, and helping the industry achieve higher-quality development.
